Every growing studio hits the same wall. More bookings mean more footage, and more footage means more editing hours. The usual answer is another editor and another workstation. In 2026 that second half has become expensive: a capable 4K editing seat now costs roughly $3,500–$4,500, because memory, storage and graphics card prices have surged with AI demand.
Why scaling in-house is harder in 2026
- Hardware: 64GB of DDR5 RAM costs about $989 and an RTX 5080 about $1,549, so even upgrading one seat for 4K multicam is a $2,500 decision.
- People: a median US film and video editor earns $75,420 a year (BLS, May 2025), before benefits.
- Timing: by the time you’ve hired, trained and equipped a new editor, the busy season may be over.
We’ve written about each of these in detail, from upgrading versus outsourcing to the hidden costs of in-house editing.
How working with Cut Pro Media works
Send your footage
Upload through Dropbox, Google Drive or WeTransfer with a reference film, your LUTs or grading notes, and a short brief.
Meet your editor
A dedicated editor is assigned to your studio and learns your pacing, music choices, colour and titles.
Get your first cut
Within 10–15 days, reviewed in Frame.io, Vimeo or a private YouTube link.
Request changes
Leave timestamped notes. Your editor makes the changes, with unlimited rounds.
Deliver to your client
Final masters in your spec, project files returned on request, delivered under your brand.
We edit in Adobe Premiere Pro, with DaVinci Resolve available through XML workflows. Because our team works in a different time zone from most of our clients, much of the editing happens overnight on your clock.
What it costs
Cut Pro Media published rates. Add-ons such as promos, full ceremony and speeches are listed on our pricing page.
Compare that with the alternative. The roughly $2,500 it costs to upgrade one seat for 4K multicam covers about seven highlight films, editing included, with no salary, no hardware and nothing sitting idle in quiet months.
Who this suits, and who it doesn’t
A good fit if you:
- run a wedding, event or production studio with seasonal peaks;
- want to take on more bookings without hiring or buying workstations;
- need consistent delivery times you can promise clients;
- are an agency that needs white-label editing under your own brand.
Probably not the right fit if you need same-day turnaround on live events, or your editing depends on an editor sitting in the room with your team every day. In those cases, a small in-house team with outsourcing for overflow often works best.
